Save the date, August 9, 2014, and join us at the IVCCD Orpheum Theater Center in Marshalltown for the 1000 Friends of Iowa’s Annual Meeting! The theme this year is “Iowa—Garden of Eatin: Economics of Community Based Food Systems”.

The cost is $40 for members ($30 for each additional attendee), $60 for the general public, and $20 for students. A local food luncheon is included in the cost of registration. Lunch will be provided by Griffieon Family Farm again this year.

Agenda items include:

• Iowa Choice Harvest: tour of the plant and learn about operations
• 2013 Best Development Recipients: Learn about the 2013 projects
• Matt Russell will discuss local food security, community based food system, economics of local foods and the future of small towns and rural areas in Iowa
