The Harkin Center was designed to be state-of-the art, sustainable, and inclusive as part of Drake University’s Blue is Green movement.
The exterior all around the Center is native landscaping and on-site stormwater management.
The interior includes daylighting in every occupied room, and low-flow, Energy Star plumbing fixtures. All utilities are electric and powered by the solar array, which will save an estimated 1,388 tons of CO2 over 25 years. Recycled, low-VOC materials were used in the construction.
