DESCRIPTION:In August\, the Des Moines City Council met to set priorities for 2017 for the city’s  strategic plan. One of the priorities that the council identified at the workshop meeting was the creation of a sustainability task force. \nThe taskforce was the idea of a group of Des Moines area organizations\, including 1000 Friends of Iowa. the purpose of the task force is to help the City of Des Moines achieve a 5 star rating with Star Communities Network – with a focus on addressing climate change and environmental justice. \nMonday\, December 19 at 4:30 pm the city council will officially vote on the priorities that they identified.\, including the task force.  Please join us to support the task force!
