Nitrogen: Streams, Society & Statewide Impact

November 1, 2016 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Join the Science Center of Iowa as they explore the delicate relationship between nitrogen’s necessity and the societal implications of excess nitrogen on ourselves and our landscapes with Dr. Peter Levi.

Dr. Peter Levi is an assistant professor in environmental science and policy at Drake University. His research investigates patterns and processes in freshwater ecosystems, combining physical, chemical, and biological measurements to understand the connections between the components of these dynamic ecosystems. Dr. Levi’s current projects seek to explain the controls on water quality parameters in Iowa streams, rivers, and wetlands. In his previous research, he has assessed restored urban streams in Milwaukee and investigated the effect of annual salmon migrations and watershed timber harvest on streams in Southeast Alaska.
